Fan Fiction: Legendary Moltres Submitted by Chansey7 CHAPTER TWO They watched, amazed, as a spiny white Pokemon emerged. “Slowbro,” it said. “It’s Slowbro’s shell!” Brock said. “Let’s bring it back to Slowbro before these idiots wake up,” Misty said. They circled the spiny shell and tucked their fingers underneath it. “On three,” Ash said. “One, two, THREE!” They lifted the shell to where Slowbro cooed happily. “Slowbrooo,” it said as it curled its big sluggish body around the shell. Leaving the Slowbro with its shell, the three friends…or four, counting Pikachu who had hidden in a nearby bush from the Rockets, continued down the dirt path towards the little town of Torch, wondering what kind of adventures awaited them there. Hot and weary, the four finally arrived at the village of Torch. Which wasn’t much of a relief for the heat was even worse. Misty was just happy that they would have a nice bed to sleep in at the motel. Pikachu was moaning with hunger so Ash decided to take it to the nearest Pokemon center. They pushed through the heavy white doors of the center where Nurse Joy was behind the counter. Before Ash had a chance to wave and say “hello”, Brock was already at the counter bug eyed. “Well hello Nurse Joy,” he said, blushing. Ash slapped his head and Misty rolled her eyes. “Hello there kids, would you like me to heal your Pikachu?” Nurse Joy asked. “Yes please,” Ash said politely. Nurse Joy carefully lifted Pikachu onto a tiny soft stretcher and carried it to the back room. When Pikachu came back, it was as hyper as ever, little bolts of electricity crackling at its cheeks. They left the Pokemon center to explore the town. There was a museum just a few blocks away, that only asked 20 dollars per person…which was, indeed, kind of cheap. So with Pikachu slung over his shoulder, Ash, Misty and Brock walked to the museum. There were fifteen beautiful marble steps leading to the main gate. Ash walked through the giant glass doors in wonder and awe, the others at his heels. They quickly paid their fee so that they could explore this giant museum. There was a hall of fame that showed different records all around the world for Pokemon training, breeding, battling, and showing. “What’s Pokemon showing?” Misty asked a man standing nearby. The man smiled at them. “Pokemon showing is when trainers or breeders show the quality of the Pokemon they have caught. The Pokemon should look normally, for instance, a Charmander’s tail should be flaming bright, and a Gengar should look angry and evil.” He explained. “Oh, I see!” Ash said. “Well, I’m not for Pokemon showing, I think I’ll just go on training and battling!” They walked to another exhibit about Charizards and Dragon Pokemon. Then they visited the huge statue in the middle of the room. Ash wondered if his Dexter would recognize a statue by its shape. He thought it was worth a try. “Moltres, one of the three legendary bird Pokemon is…” Ash shut off the Pokedex. “I’ve heard enough.” He said, staring at the giant statue. “Hey,” Brock said, “that statue doesn’t have any wings, or head flame.” A man with a nametag that read “Jimmy” walked over to them. “Hi, I work here at the museum. Would you like me to show you how this statue here works?” “Sure!” Ash, Brock and Misty said together. “Pika!” Pikachu said. Jimmy pointed out a white switch on the side of the statue. “Here,” he said, “flip this switch.” Ash did so, and fire burst out of where the wings should be and a flame lit up upon the Moltres’s head. “Wow!” Brock exclaimed, circling the statue. “That’s awesome!” Ash shouted. “Would you like me to tell you kids the legend of Moltres?” Jimmy asked. “Oh yes please sir,” Misty said. “Well, it is said, that if Moltres is aroused from its home inside Victory Road, that it will fly from town to town, dropping fire balls, setting forests and cities on fire.” Jimmy said. “If that happened, how would the Moltres be stopped?” Brock asked. “The legend says, that the Moltres will stop when all the cities are burnt down, or when the very volcano to the west of this city erupts.” Jimmy smiled. “But it’s just a legend, nothing to be afraid about.” They left the museum, and Ash searched for a gym. There was no official gym, but Ash hoped to find an unofficial gym that he could battle at. It was almost dark, and Misty and Brock had found a motel to stay at. Ash unpacked his things there, and then he and Pikachu went searching for a gym, despite the fact that it was dark out. Ash searched the outskirts of the village until he found a sign that read “Craig’s Unofficial Pokemon Gym Next Right” Ash traveled down the road until the “next right” came around, where he found a giant building hidden amongst the trees. The sign above the door said “Craig’s Pokemon Gym: I never use the same Pokemon to battle twice!” “Wow,” Ash said to Pikachu, “He must have a lot of Pokemon to never use the same one twice. I wonder which Pokemon he’ll use to battle us.” Ash knocked on the door and it opened automatically. Pikachu squealed, scared, because usually doors do not open by themselves. It was dark inside the room and Ash managed to stutter a “hello” before the stadium lights shot on. A boy stood at the other side of the gym. “Hi there challenger, my name is Craig. Are you ready to lose?” Craig said. “I won’t lose to you!” Ash said, astonished at the fact that the kid standing in front of him was younger than he was! A bell rang, and the battle started. “Only one on one!” Craig shouted from across the room. “Pikachu, I choose you!” Ash cried. “Pokeball go!” Craig shouted. The red beam splattered on the ground and began to form into…? “Moltres, Sky Attack!” Craig commanded. “Pikachu, Thunderbolt!” Ash said, still amazed at his opponent’s Pokemon. Moltres dove at Pikachu, but Pikachu rolled out of the way with Agility, and then released a powerful Thunderbolt. Moltres screamed, and there was a blinding light from the electricity. The glass broke in the windows, as the fiery bird flew through, and disappeared into the night. Craig was horrified. “My Moltres! It escaped! The legend…oh no!
