Fan Fiction: Legendary Moltres

Submitted by Chansey7

CHAPTER FIVE

They arrived at Torch by noon; the trip had been uneventful. Pikachu still hadn’t reached consciousness…it has obviously fainted and needed immediate medical attention. Charizard landed outside the town, fearing that people would make a fuss over Moltres. Spearow landed near him and Pidgeotto as well. “I’m never riding on a Spearow again,” Misty groaned. “The next time I fly I’m getting an Articuno!”

Brock laughed, “Pidgeotto wasn’t such a smooth flight either.” Ash had nothing to say because riding on Charizard had been a wonderful experience.

“I’d better get Pikachu to the doctor quick,” Ash said. They were greeted by the townspeople who asked them tons of questions…questions that would remain unanswered until Pikachu was better. “Move out of the way!” Ash said, not caring hour rude he sounded. They pushed through the doors of the Pokemon center and rushed to Nurse Joy. “Pikachu took a nasty fall, he fainted! Please make him better!” Ash said.

“Yes, Nurse Joy, please help Pikachu, he fell off of Charizard in the air and rolled down the mountainside!” Misty explained.

“Okay, I’ll do my best!” Nurse Joy said as she again put Pikachu onto a stretcher and rushed into the back, this time into the Emergency Room.

“She is the best…” Brock said, dazed.

“Snap out of it Brock!” Misty yelled in his face. The emergency light lit up above the huge metal doors. There was a big cross, painted on the door with beautiful bright red paint. Ash ran his fingers over it slowly, and then went to the waiting bench. He sat down and put his head in his hands. Misty looked at him and sat down next to him.

“I don’t feel like talking in case you’re wondering,” he mumbled softly. Tears formed in Misty’s eyes. She thought about all the times that she had hurt Ash’s feelings. She was always putting him down, telling him that he was stupid. She thought about the time when he had destroyed her bike, and even though his Pikachu was hurt, she still yelled at him. She thought of his rival, Gary, always calling him a loser. She thought of all the gym leaders who had laughed at him and the look on his face when they beat him. And through all of those put-downs and sarcastic remarks, he was still determined to become a Pokemon Master.

She leaned to whisper in his ear. “You don’t have to pay me back for the bike.” Ash raised an eyebrow and looked at her.

“What did you say?”

“I said, you don’t have to pay me back for the bike.” After an hour and a half, the emergency light went off. But the doors didn’t open and Pikachu wasn’t rolled out on a cart.

Instead the door cracked open a bit. “Chuuuuuuuuuuu,” a faint voice was muffled behind the heavy doors. Ash stood up. “Chuuuuuuuuuuuu,” it came again, even more determined. Ash walked to the door and opened it. “Pikapi! (Ash!)” Pikachu cried with delight as it leaped into Ash’s arms. He could say nothing. He just hugged the little Pikachu until electricity was crackling from Pikachu to him. They beamed with light and Ash laughed knowing that he was happier then ever before. Brock and Misty laughed with them. They walked outside. People were there awaiting their arrival. They closed in on our heroes until they couldn’t see a foot in front of them.

Ash leaned towards Pikachu. Then he screamed, “Pikachu Thunderbolt now!” Pikachu let out an enormous amount of lightning electricity until everyone was down on the ground sizzling.

“Pikachuuu!”

“Well that took care of that!” Ash said. They walked back to where Charizard was waiting. Ash hopped upon him. “I’m bringing Moltres to the volcano. Professor Oak said the volcano must erupt within 48 hours of Moltres being dropped,” he paused, “I have a plan.” They took off to the volcano, which was smoking ominously under blackened clouds. The sky was gray, and the sun couldn’t be seen even though it was only 2:00pm. Charizard made a sharp turn upward straight up the side of the volcano. At the top, Ash gave the signal, “Drop!” and Charizard flung the net upside down, where the injured and fainted Moltres dropped into the large dark opening. When Ash finally returned the people had seen what he had done, and asked him what he planned to do to make the volcano erupt. “I have a plan. A very dangerous plan, but one that might work. Listen up. I want this town evacuated by 10:00 tonight. You have until 9:30 to pack your bags. Once everyone is ready, I will lead you to a safety zone. There I will explain my p

lan,” he clapped several times, “now let’s get going!” Nobody was in the mood to fool around, and even though this was only a 10-year-old boy who was ordering them around, they trusted him with their lives.

People rushed around, packing their precious belongings and forming a group near the town hall. “What about the museum?” someone asked.

“It’s on higher ground, it should be okay,” Brock said.

Ash went to where a lady was packing her things. There were at least five or six kids running around inside the house, some crying, and some arguing. “Don you need any help?” Ash asked the mother.

“Oh yes please! None of the kids will cooperate with me! We have so much to pack, I really hope this plan of yours works. Ash nodded and began to pack things into suitcases.

“You may not be able to take everything,” Ash said, “take only what means a lot to you.” He lifted up a brown suitcase and a backpack and brought them outside.

It seemed to take forever for 9:30 to come around. Everyone had assembled in a group all waiting for Ash. When he arrived, he lit a torch, the symbol of the town, and a great source of light. Misty and Brock joined up with him, and he led them around the side of the mountain to safety. They followed him to flat land on the side of the mountain where there was a giant cave. The women and children were first where they huddled in the back of the cave. Because Torch had such a small population, by the time everyone was there, there was still room for hundreds more. People slowly moved forward out of the cave where it wasn’t as cramped. “You’ll be safe up here,” Misty assured them.

Last to arrive at the top was the mayor of Torch. His name was John Wright. John had carried up a small podium where he planned to make a speech. He stood behind the podium, ready to address the citizens of Torch. “If all works well, this young man right here, Ash Ketchum, will be able to make the volcano of Torch erupt. There won’t be much damage done, because most of the town his on high grounds, but we must be cautious. Ash is here, to explain his plan.

Ash walked to the podium, only to find that he was shorter than it was. A metal box was moved to the podium, and Ash stood bravely in front of the people. “Citizens of Torch, I am here to explain my plan to make the volcano you can see way over there in the distance, erupt. We have to somehow disturb the lava inside the volcano, so that it may rise to the top. My Pokedex tells me, that many Electrodes live in this area. Electrodes have the ability to self-destruct. Already, my friends Misty and Brock have gathered many of them together and explained what they are to do. I will put the Electrodes in this empty backpack which I will carry to the top of the volcano. I will give the signal, and the Electrodes will self-destruct. There is most likely going to be a huge explosion that will throw me off the top of the volcano down to the town below. However, my Charizard will catch me when I fall, and I will arrive here when the volcano starts to erupt. Misty will be down on the ground atop a Rapidash just incase something serious happens. Charizard isn’t going to fly me to the top of the volcano for fear that he will get caught in the blast and won’t be able to save me. He will fly me halfway and I will have to climb the rest. Watch out citizens of Torch, because at 12:00… it’s show time.” The crowd was suddenly silent, staring at Ash. Ash shivered, fearing that they hated his plan. Then there was a single clap, which showed to be contagious. Ash smiled over the podium as 190 people clapped and cheered. The sound echoed into the night as Ash and Misty began walking down the side of the mountain, Rapidash following, and Charizard circling overhead.
